In 2004, Bishop Joseph Galante announced a "re-structuring of the Diocese of Camden, parish by parish, ministry by ministry, and school by school." The initial stages of this process began in small groups in each deanery. Then, each deanery was to make recommendations and solutions to posed questions based on demographics, sacramental growth and solid stewardship. Each group was to give the Bishop "a plan of action" for their area.
In 2005, the process began by deaneries, and then by parish "CoreTeams." Each group was given a "pastoral planning" manual asking each group to analyze, study and pray for the guidance of each grouplooking forward to the future. Once the recommendations were presented to the Bishop, the Bishop invited all these groups of people to the Cathedral for prayer and the "statement of intentions."
In 2008, we began to see the time, talent and treasure of each Core-Team come to life as pronouncements were made throughout the diocese creating, merging and acknowledging "new" parishes. It was in May of 2010 that Holy Trinity Parish, Downbeach, was created. The former parishes of St. James in Ventnor, Blessed Sacrament in Margate, and Epiphany in Longport, closed and the new parish of Holy Trinity was formed.
